What do we REALLY think of Carlton Cole?

Popped up and scored today when it mattered - we could have been in trouble without that goal.
Yes, he is very frustrating at times, not particularly clinical and has never really looked that smooth with his link-up play (apart from under Zola).
But I like the fact he's a long-standing club servant who doesn't moan. He's always there to do a job - case in point today.
Would you clap him if he came back as a player for a rival team or manager of an opposing team? I certainly would....

Right now in our team he is barely adequate. None of us want him to be a regular [ unless he magically ups his form ] but under the circumstances he is better than nothing.
Good luck to him because he is an honest tryer.

I know Carlton from back in our school days.
We never kept in touch, but we still have mutual friends, the word is he would never leave London as he is very much a family man and would never go far from his Mum!
He actually supports Arsenal and would love to go there, but that's never going to happen!

Clever man in that he left West Ham only for us to sign him back up and line his pocket!!
He don't work for the ball, can't run and doesn't have the passion ( IMO!)
And in the last 2 seasons he's only scored 8 goals!! Nice bloke but its time to go.......oh and he can take Vaz Te and Nolan with him!!

Cole ws not as much of a frustration factor as normal because we played through the middle (Noble - Kouyate - Zarate) and didn't constantly hit high hopeful balls at him to lose.
I only recall three contributions from Cole (all good). The goal, the back post header and the lay off for downing's goal. Other than that I don't recall him having much affect on the game at all, which is why he will be replaced soon and will take his place on the bench.
Valencia and Sakho have greater pace and should provide more movement which will allow them to get more involved in our play. Hoepfully, we will have better possossion in the final third with Valencia/Sakho rather than Cole.

I don't mind having him in the squad but he's no finisher as his appalling goal scoring record shows. He should not be starting for us.

I think he's a great backup striker. Don't want him first choice, but on he bench then sure.
